Surfing

With more Blue Flag beaches in Pembrokeshire than anywhere else in the UK, where better to surf. It doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or surfing is like second nature to you. There are plenty of beautiful beaches to go to. Including Whitesands Bay, Newgale, Poppit Sands, Freshwater West and Cardigan Bay. Also, there are surf lessons available from Pembrokeshire Surf School, who offer different lessons for different abilities. In addition to that, they even offer weekend packages. Or, if you don’t want lessons, you can hire surfboards.  Meaning you don’t have to buy your own surf board until you’ve tried it.

Kiteboarding

Kiteboarding or kitesurfing is an extreme sport for adrenaline junkies. It’s done by using the power of the wind to move a large kite attached to your board across the water. If you fancy a go at kitesurfing, make sure you  book lessons first. Just to make sure you understand what you are doing and are able to do it safely. Not up to it? Take a trip down to Newgale and watch the kite surfers in action. This makes for a fun and exciting day either way.

Kayaking

Kayaking in Pembrokeshire is one of the best ways to look at the pristine coastline. It allows you to get up close and personal with the windswept coast, sheltered coves and jagged cliffs. Explore the coast and take a break on a secluded beach only accessible by the sea. Or head further out and explore ‘The Bitches’, near St David’s. Which has one of the fastest tidal flows in the UK, reaching speeds of up to 18 knots. Also you can book kayaking lessons, if that sounds more your speed.

Stand-up paddleboarding or SUP is a water sport that was created in Hawaii. The adventerous activity involves standing on a large board and using a paddle to manovre yourself through the water. You can choose to hire a paddleboard or you can have lessons.

Speed Boat Trips

Speed boat trips are an exciting way for you to see the coast and you can be taken further out to sea. As a result, you can explore the offshore islands and wildlife. Take a trip to Ramsey Island to try and find  Atlantic grey seals, seabirds and porpoise. Or you can take a trip to Skomer Island to look out for puffins, manx shearwaters.
