Our Guide To Eating Out (And Drinking) In Newport Pembrokeshire
Pembrokeshire is home to some of the best places to eat in the UK and Newport is becoming the jewel in Pembrokeshire’s crown for it’s fantastic foodie scene.
This beautiful coastal town is 4 miles from Treicert Farm Cottages and with such a variety of choices to satisfy the most discerning palate, we thought we’d take a quick look at what tasty treats are on offer at our local town.
Cafe’s & Takeaways

Cat Rock Cafe
This is in the main clubhouse of the Newport Links Golf Club. We love a relaxed late brunch at Cat Rock, with a chilled vibe and one of the best panoramic views of Newport bay and Morfa head, this dog-friendly (outside only) is an ideal spot for breakfast or a delicious Sunday lunch. You can dine indoors looking through the floor to ceiling windows at the breathtaking north Pembrokeshire view, or on a sunny day, sit outside and enjoy the sea air.

Tides Kitchen and Wine Bar
Lovely modern dining in a relaxed atmosphere, Tides Kitchen & Wine Bar became an exceptional artisan bakery during the Covid lockdown, well-known for their homemade sourdough bread. When open as usual, their seasonally influenced menu has plenty of locally caught fish choices with regular event evenings too. Fish & Fizz nights with fillet of cod, hazelnut butter and leek and mushroom sauce, followed by millionaire’s shortbread with gingerbread ice cream are pretty hard to beat!

PWNC Cafe
We love this place! It even has a little climbing wall for smaller kids to burn off energy at back of the cafe, ideal if you want a natter and want to keep the kids happy at the same time. Pwnc is family friendly daytime cafe offers healthy meals (a few vegan choices) with treats and coffee for active people. Their ‘house granola’ is our personal favourite and their coconut dahl, an ideal lunchtime pick me up.

Blas at FronLas
This dog-friendly cafe is the ideal spot to catch up with friends and enjoy homemade welsh cakes or a speciality coffee. Blas at Fronlas has an excellent breakfast and lunch menu, along with musical theme nights their choice will tempt your tastebuds whilst enjoying the contemporary interior complete with woollen Welsh blankets and a cosy log burner. They focus on local produce and have fully stocked deli shelves selling fresh bread and locally made preserves.
Restaurants

The Canteen
A gourmet cafe and pizza restaurant serving amazing stone-baked pizzas, speciality salads and homemade dough balls to die for! All food is made from locally sourced sustainable produce such as Caws Cenarth Cheese. The Canteen is welcoming and contemporary Newport cafe, family-friendly and fantastic service, it’s a popular place and also offers a pizza takeaway service, ideal if you fancy a freshly baked pizza on the beach whilst watching a Pembrokeshire sunset.

Llys Meddyg Restaurant With Rooms
Llys Meddyg is an informal fine-dining restaurant in an elegant Georgian house, there’s a dining room, snug cellar bar and kitchen garden. A popular wedding venue in Newport, the Kitchen garden is set in a building behind the main house and looks out to a beautiful garden of wild flowers and fresh herbs. The restaurant team often run foraging trips to source local wild ingredients and predominantly use locally sourced produce. Louise and Ed who run the restaurant, have recently started a new venture, ‘The Smoke Shed’ which is next to the main house, an artisan smokery specialising in smoked salmon, which they delivered to the local area during covid 19.

Llwyngwair Manor Hotel & Holiday Park
Llwyngwair Manor, situated just outside the town of Newport by the river Nevern is a large Manor house that often hosts weddings and events with a caravan park around the manor, with a bar and restaurant with classic treats such as gammon steak and chilli con carne and plenty of space for the kids to have a run around after their meal.
Pubs
Each of Newport’s pubs has its own character offering local ales and food menus.
Has local dishes on it’s extensive bar menu, the gourmet burgers are very popular! The dog-friendly bar with roaring fire is also a fantastic music venue for local bands. At the back of the pub, there’s a separate restaurant with dishes from Thai green chicken curry and puy lentil cottage pie with potato rosti, it’s a very popular place and advisable to book.
is a family-run dog-friendly pub with a large selection of real ales, a large choice of basket bar meals, a popular pub with locals in the town, they often have live bands playing and room to dance too! There’s a separate restaurant with a huge menu choice from seared sea bass fillet to an italian sharing platter, they also have a takeaway service too.
is a traditional pub with a large dog-friendly bar and specialises in homemade curries, they have a popular extensive curry takeaway menu and plenty of child-friendly options.
A traditional real ale pub in the centre of Newport that often hosts pool and darts tournaments and plenty of televised sports.
